The first day of Muharram is the beginning of the new Islamic calendar year, 1446. It marks the Hijra, when the Prophet (SAW) travelled from Makkah to Madinah in 622 AD.
Muharram is one of the four sacred months in the year mentioned in the Quran.
“The number of months with Allah has been twelve since the time he created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred. That is the right religion. So do not wrong yourselves during them.”
Surah At-Tawbah, verse 36
The start of this sacred month could be a good time for you to start planning your own sacred journey and consider making this the year for your DIY Umrah.
