Where Light Rests

Where Light Rests

Where Light Rests

A Poetic Reflection Inspired by a Pilgrim's Journey

It began with a whisper,
not mine —
but from a friend whose footsteps touched the stones of Al-Quds
and stayed.

Four days. Three nights.
In the city where prophets walked,
he didn’t just visit —
he wept,
he witnessed,
he woke something in me.

From Makkah to Madinah

From the call of the Kaaba
to the shade of the Green Dome,
I followed stories stitched in air —
saffron wind and sandalwood prayer.

In Makkah, I circled the silence.
In Madinah, I rested my tears.

But it was in Bayt al-Maqdis,
the land some only dream of entering,
where my soul turned its face again.

In Al-Quds

You don’t just see the Dome.
You feel it
golden and glowing like a prayer answered
before it was even spoken.

I imagined Toni at Fajr,
moonlight brushing the stones,
whispering Qur'an to a soldier
who asked not for a passport
but for a verse.
"Qul huwallahu ahad..."

What kind of place demands
faith at the border?

Beyond the Wall

He told me:
“Stay longer, if you can.”
Because time bends in Bayt al-Maqdis.
And your heart might too.

From the olive groves to the souqs,
from the Western Wall to the blessed compound,
you walk history in barefoot awe.

Even silence here has echoes.
Even stones seem to remember.

And Then —

He said:
"If they allow, go farther."
"Let your feet find Sham."

To Syria,
land of prophets and poets,
land where the azan still rises
even after so much was broken.

And now,
the sanctions lifted,
the gates easing open —
a quiet welcome
from a people who never forgot how to endure.

This Book, This Blog, This Breath

Is for the ones still walking,
still praying for passage.
For those who may never go,
but hold these lands in their hearts.

📖 Where Light Rests
isn’t just a travelogue.
It’s a love letter —
to Makkah,
to Madinah,
to Al-Quds,
and to the light that’s waiting
even in the rubble of Sham.

May your footsteps be blessed.
May your prayers be answered — even before they leave your tongue.
And may the road always lead you
to where light rests.
